Last Post

Well little point in adding any more posts, the JOGLE came to a grinding halt after some 400 windy and mountainous miles due to circumstances beyond my control.

Would I do it again? Yes (even more so if the wind died down a bit!)
Will I? Not sure, I don't think I could face the disapointment I felt last Friday if the same thing happend again (or similar).

I met some great people and stayed at lovely B&B's, thank you to everyone and to those who supported me through this, in particular my wife Sharon, without whom none of this would have been possible and has been a rock to me through it all, the good and the bad.

The time before it all came to a grinding halt!

Today was going so well, the wind had dropped, almost flat terrain. Then bam!
To tell the story properly lets go back a day. Set off from falkirk and had a hard day, heavy winds and lots of little hills. By the end i had pins and needles in both hands. After a couple of hours my right hand was still tingling. The staff at my b & b arranged a local osteopath to c me. Bottom line is the riding has inflamed a historic slipped disc, and caused some nerve compression. After manipulation i had my first good nights sleep for a couple of days. Today i set off ready to set the world alight! Got to Gretna Green and met John Peet who is on a 1500 mile ride. Rode with him for a bit then the problems hit. It felt like i was getting electric shocks each time i used the gears or brakes. I rang the osteopath and was advised to get a second opinion in
Carlisle. After much manipulation and cracking i have now had advice from three osteopaths and it was not what i wanted. With much regret i must retire on medical grounds from the jogle. I have moaned to sharon about it but i have enjoyed it. I have cried at having to quit and am now on the train heading home wanting to cry some more. Absolutely gutted. Regie

Bad day

And now i am hacked off! Left blair atholl this morning and popped into escape route bike shop at Pitlochry. Fantastic service, sorted my seating out and a new seat - nice! There i was riding along all me a sudden the bike was throwing the chain! I couldnt sort it and after a few calls the bike shop in dunfermline agreed to help. One very expensive taxi later the bike was in their hands. Then the news - i had bust 3 spokes! One got in the gears and caused the jumping. I am now down about 5 miles. Tired and it is gonna rain tomorrow! On target though!
